Dubai private school fees are rarely just the tuition line on a brochure. For 2026-27, KHDA has said private schools in Dubai will not increase fees. Registration deposits, transport, uniforms, and books sit outside that freeze.
A low tuition figure can move once the bus and the deposit are added. A high figure is not permission to raise it this year.
The fee clock stops on the date of a written withdrawal, not on the day a child stops coming to class.

What the 2026-27 freeze covers
On 22 May 2026, KHDA confirmed no increase in school fees for private schools in Dubai for 2026-27. The same note lets institutions defer licence-renewal fees and fines, and it exempts early childhood centres from those charges and from Dubai Municipality market fees. That relief is for the school, not a parent's deposit or bus.
The freeze covers tuition increases. Registration deposits, transport, and uniforms are separate, and books are billed apart from tuition. A school can hold last year's tuition and still reprice a uniform. The text is the KHDA note of 22 May 2026.
Across 200+ private schools, published 2026 tuition ranges from about AED 12,723 to AED 64,093 per year, excluding admission and registration fees, transport, uniforms, and books. The UAE school fees page says the headline understates the year.
When a rise is allowed, for-profit schools may raise fees only within KHDA's Education Cost Index, linked to the DSIB grade. Outstanding and Very Good schools are generally permitted larger increases, and the highest fees tend to sit there. British and American schools are usually pricier than Indian curriculum schools at a comparable grade. For 2026-27 the notes describe a freeze, not an allowed percentage.
Terms, months, and the charges beside tuition
From 23 March 2026, a school may collect tuition in three terms or in ten equal monthly instalments. Term 1 is capped at 40 percent of annual fees, and Terms 2 and 3 are no more than 30 percent each. The monthly plan divides annual tuition by 10. These notes do not mention interest.

Admission, registration, transport, uniforms, and books sit outside tuition. These notes set no dirham amount for a deposit, a bus seat, or a uniform. Ask which lines are refundable if you withdraw, and on what written condition.
Keep a school tour separate from the invoice. After an offer, the nearer list is the new school year for an expat parent.
Unpaid fees, classes, and the leaving papers
KHDA's questions for parents still say a school may not suspend or expel a student without KHDA authorisation. The March 2026 Parent's Guide to Fees starts the unpaid-fee path at least 30 days after the due date. It then takes six documented steps: two written reminders, direct contact, a meeting offer, a payment plan considered, and a final written notice.
Keep to an agreed plan and no consequence applies. Any suspension after that process is capped at 3 school days, is never on exam days, and ends when you pay. The child must not be embarrassed or excluded. Withholding next year's place, and expulsion, still need KHDA.
In practice, an empty seat does not stop the invoice. Tuition accrues until the withdrawal date on a written request. That date is printed on the Withdrawal Certificate and cannot be backdated. Delay can push the term into a costlier refund-deduction tier. The notes name the risk and do not print the percentages.
Families often ask for a transfer certificate. These notes name a Withdrawal Certificate and do not state a waiting time or a fee for transfer papers. If papers are held, ask which step the school is using.
Distance days, complaints, and the signed contract
Approved remote days stay fully payable. Online classes do not require a discount. Skipping the programme, or disliking it, is not grounds to withhold fees. The route is the school's internal complaints process, and fees stay payable while it is open.
These notes add no KHDA fine and no form that replaces that desk. Fees stop only when the school delivers no service at all, from the day that happens. The missed portion is held as credit: a credit note, a transfer to a sibling, or a refund, agreed in writing.
Nothing here quotes a Parent-School Contract clause. Read the signed copy beside the fee sheet and the KHDA pages. If they disagree on an increase, a deposit, or a withdrawal, ask in writing which text applies.
